Eat, Sip, and Savor at Shula’s Bourbon Dinner
Prepare to forget everything you know about pairing food and drink with our highly-anticipated Bourbon Dinner! Join us Wednesday, March 22nd at 6:00 p.m. at Shula’s Steak House, and learn how to think beyond the glass of wine to see how the right bourbon can elevate a variety of dishes. You’ll learn from our special guest speaker, Randy Palmer, Florida State Ambassador for Sazerac, the distributor for Trace Bourbon.
We’ll kick off the evening with a welcome reception, where you will experience how bourbon plays well with others with a Buffalo Trace cocktail, the Classic Bourbon Smash. With your palate primed, we’ll move on to our appetizer course of Thick Cut Bacon, a dish that embraces the night’s theme with Jim Beam Bourbon® apples. Complimenting this smoky dish is E.H. Taylor, Jr. Single Barrel. A bourbon as rich in history as it is in flavor, the brand’s namesake, Colonel Haynes Taylor, Jr., is widely considered one of the founding fathers of the bourbon industry. You’ll enjoy the aroma of lightly toasted oak, dried figs and butterscotch, while its sweetness, together with tobacco and dark spices, will bring out the best in each bite of bacon.
Our salad course features our new Burrata Salad, pairing the creamy cheese with the earthy tang of tomatoes, artichokes, and pickled onions. Balancing the decadent dish is Blanton’s Single Barrel. Known as the world’s first single barrel bourbon, one sip reveals a sweet taste with citrus and oak. Further exploration will reveal a creamy vanilla nose with hints of nuts, caramel, orange and light chocolate.
The evening’s entrée course is a 10oz. SHULA CUT® Bone-In Filet Mignon with peppercorn sauce. It includes side dishes that are as equally hearty, with crispy Brussel sprouts and a luxurious potato gratin. Proving an equal match for these flavors is Sazerac Rye 6-yr Whiskey. A New Orleans classic, it boasts aromas of clove, vanilla, anise and pepper with subtle notes of candies, spices and citrus. The finish is smooth with hints of licorice, tying together the rich flavors of the course.
For dessert, you’ll learn how beautifully bourbon compliments the sweetest treats, as Bananas Fosters Cheesecake meets Pappy Van Winkle 15 Year. This very rare, limited edition bourbon, is barrel aged for 15 years. Its sweet taste is composed of vanilla, maple and honey joined by flavors of citrus and spice. A long lasting oaky finish offers a perfect ending to a memorable meal.
